This does not represent all possible solutions. The actual support is based of an individual diagnosis of the student’s health status in the context of the implemented courses.

Examples of the support

Students with specific learning difficulties, e.g. dyslexia, ADHD
  • adaptation of the form of exams to the needs of the student, considering technological solutions;
  • opportunity to rent equipment to facilitate taking notes, dictaphone, laptop.
  • Consultation on the functionality of software that allows to facilitate concentration and accelerate the learning process.
  • Tutor support.
Students on the autism spectrum (ASD)
  • Adaptation of forms of examinations to the needs of the student;
  • tutor support;
  • opportunity to use quiet rooms;
  • opportunity to borrow portable computer equipment, voice recorder
Students with difficulties in the area of mental health
  • Adaptation of forms of participation in classes and forms of examinations;
  • individualized solutions that take into account the type and dynamics of the disease and the student’s current condition;
Students with musculoskeletal disabilities
  • adaptation of forms of examinations to the needs of the student;
  • Organization of classes in an architecturally adapted space;
  • Support of assistants;
  • Architecturally adapted spaces in student residences;
  • possibility of transportation by specially adapted university buses from the place of study to the place of residence;
  • support in the use of libraries;
  • opportunity to borrow portable computer and electronic equipment.
Blind and visually impaired students
  • Adaptation of examination forms to the student’s needs;
  • learning of spatial orientation as it relates to studies;
  • possibility of lending portable computer equipment, braille;
  • adaptation of learning materials;
  • access to a collection of accessible academic materials – the ABC library (abc.uw.edu.pl).
Deaf students
  • Support of Polish Sign Language interpreters during classes;
  • adaptation of examination forms to the student’s needs;
  • additional, individual classes complementing foreign language classes, including the possibility of choosing Polish as a foreign language classes;
  • the possibility of remote use of interpreting in contacts with the university administration as part of a permanent interpreter on duty.
Hearing impaired students
  • Lending of equipment, including specialized assistive listening systems;
  • support of a note-taking assistant during classes;
  • possibility to adjust the forms of exams;
  • additional individual classes to supplement foreign language classes.
