Essential information about transport services
Who is the transportation for
University transportation is designed for people with mobility disabilities, wheelchairs or other difficulties in independent movement.
Transport means
Transfers are made in buses adapted to carry up to 4 wheelchair users at a time. The vehicles also have regular seats, so they are also used by people moving on crutches, canes, with the help of a balcony, or independently.
What purposes can you use transportation for
Those who are eligible for transportation are entitled only to trips related to academic activities – between the place of residence and the place where classes are taken, and between University buildings located on different campuses.
How much does it cost
Transportation expenses are covered by the University.
How to get the transport service
If you want to use specialized transportation and assistants’ support in moving to classes, fill out the transportation questionnaire on the BON website
In addition, provide the Office with:
- a certified copy of your current disability certificate (if your previous one is no longer valid),
- medical documentation confirming current health status (applies to students requesting transportation for the first time and those whose health status has changed from that previously documented).
Fill out the questionnaire online, and the listed documents you can deliver in person or by mail to the office.
The University transportation Coordinator is Mr. Tomasz Nurzynski.
How does the transportation work?
The Coordinator arranges semester schedules for transportation.
A person who is qualified by the Commission must submit a schedule of their classes at least one week before they start. If they do not, they will not be added to the transit schedule.
Ordering rides and assistant services and submitting schedules is only possible online:
You also need to submit changes and order additional rides during the academic year one week in advance. Requests after this date can but do not have to be processed.
In addition to the transportation assistance provided by the BON, transportation assistants are available to aid in getting around within inaccessible University buildings.
People who have been granted the right to use transportation or transport assistant support must consent to and comply with the “Regulations for the use of transportation services of the University of Warsaw provided to persons with disabilities.”
